From the Grayrock rules on the main website...
"-Absolutely no trail riding after dark. You will be asked to leave."
Can someone explain to me how a Barbie Jeep race falls under this category? I was told at 9:45pm Saturday night (as we were preparing to race, which we've done many times before). That we were "night riding" and we were to return to our campsites or we would be kicked out.
Also someone else was stopped while riding on the road from one campsite to another and told the same thing. They were also told that someone was going to be given "a ticket". Perhaps some clarification of the rules on the main site might be in order is I am not allowed to drive to a friend's campsite on the main road without getting threatened with being kicked out...

I'll be happy to talk to you on the side about this. Both moving around camp only and barbie Jeep racing will not be called night riding. Unless something changes after this weekend. I'll PM you my cell number. Had a blast hanging with you Friday night, first time I think we have really talked.

Yeah, I had a blast hanging with you guys too.
The situation that happened could have easily been avoided by only going after the people who were actually breaking the stated rules. If someone actually was night riding, then I'd have been the first to inform Tony of it so it could be handled. I've done more than my part out there. Not only have I done workdays (some where we rode afterwards and some where we were not allowed to), but I've picked up trash on every trail out there (even when I was just paying to be there).
It really pissed me off that we were told we were going to be kicked out of the park when none of us had broken a single rule. If anyone had come to me afterwards and apologized for that I wouldn't have made this post. But if someone has been drinking (which I highly suspect) they might not be the best one to go enforcing the rules.
In this case, moving around camp and Barbie Jeep racing WERE considered night riding.

It sounds like there was something else going on and you guys got caught up in it. Moving around and the barbie jeeping has never been a problem as long as I have patrolled so there must have been something else happening.
Sorry I missed the weekend, sounds like everyone had a blast despite this.

I'm thinking that next time having the time and place planned in advance for such activities might not be a bad idea. And if someone is being a nuisance and disobeying the rules, I'm all for kicking them out.

What is Barbie Jeep Racing? Barbie Jeepin' is when a bunch of us (usually drunken) fools show up at Grayrock with Barbie Jeeps (the little kiddy Power Wheels ones). After dark on Saturday night, after much alcohol consumption, someone rolls around yelling "Barbie Jeep Race" or some such nonsense. Then everyone out there converges on a trail such as Rock Garden One to watch the imminent bodily destruction. We line 2 Barbie Jeeps up at the top of the hill with their drivers sitting on top of them, and let the carnage ensue. After several heats of people getting hurt and flipping down the hill at high speed, the last person who can still stand up is usually declared the winner. (Usually Pdaddy, as he is the reigning Barbie Jeep Downhill Racing Champion of the World). ;D

Oh yeah, most importantly - you have to strip the gears out of the rear wheels so it freewheels and hauls butt down a hill. I can show you how to do it easily, all you need is a big hammer and a big flat-blade screwdriver
Rest assured, there will most likely be some Barbie Jeep Racing going on at the June Jam. I'm bringing my Bigfoot Power Wheels and a helmet and will be ready come Saturday night.

I'm out for Barbie Jeeping this time. Gotta leave Saturday afternoon for Wanker's wedding and reception and won't be back in time Saturday night. But other than that I'll be out there all weekend.
