Hi all,
Brand new to this forum... First time at Gray Rock, running with RCRC.
Um... what to say. Awesome to watch so many SWEET rigs. And to say I brought a knive to a gunfight would be an understatement. Not the most endearing place for an 04 Unlimited with a BB and 32 MT's. Sucked into a couple ruts, nothing I could do... except DREAM about being able to hold a line and not fall into those gullies. lol. I wish I brought a camera. I'm gonna tell you folks something... I've tooled all around northern CA near the Rubicon trail up at Loon Lake, including the old rubicon trail which runs up to Wentworth Springs. Grew up less than an hour from Hollister Hills, and wheeled all over Elko, NV for two years. This Gray Rock is NO slouch of an ORV park. I'm gonna hope my front diff isn't bleeding tomorrow, and once I get a chance to reclaim the underneath of my heep from all that mud it will be nice to see where the slams are I felt... I felt lucky to drive back home to Falkville... so far so good. Couple of close ones, for me today, not wanting to beat the crap outta my rig.
But whoever is in charge, I'd like to say thanks. My little guy and I had a blast... And it was cool to have him agree to help a little GIRL and get a nice doll... It's nice to think that some little gal might have that 10 years from now. I hope to come back to Gray Rock... but I'm not going to kick myself 10 years from now for having destroyed a TJ Unlimited. I use that for exploring and it's set up for expedition. Gray Rock is NOT that. But I hope to build up a rig where we can more competently have fun there. It was great to see all the toys and to think so many great folks out here do this sort of thing. I was stationed in MS in the Air Force, and new I'd one day live in the South... permanently. Great people, and great comraderie out there. And again - some SERIOUS rigs. To the guy who shrapnelled his fan blade on that 83 Renegade, I hope ya got home okay - To the Toyo who kept punching it up that ledge, my little guy (and so many others) thought it was awesome... A day like today helps me teach my kid some "random kindness" for the holidays and it was most cool to give him some sketchy wheeling to talk about at school.
Well, that's enough long-windedness for a first post... just wanted to say thanks and to reiterate that the South has the best folks in the United States... makes me feel so right about getting here as quick as I could. Now, off to dream about the RIGHT kind of rig for Gray Rock. lol Merry Xmas, all, and look forward to seeing such cool wheeling-folks more!
